EMPLOYED!!!!!!

Okay so..... I GOT A JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOO WOO WOO!!!!  So here's the story (focus pans out over the water and up into the night sky, slowly zooming into the blackness between the twinkling stars, to set the mood, now the scene fades back in as the story is begun...), I have been looking for a job since May of 2010. That was 8 months ago now. I wanted/needed a job to get an apartment this year, pay for my gas, my food, etc. Well... I have never had a job before you see and the economy SUCKS right now, so needless to say my chances of finding a job quickly were much slimmer than desired. However, I excitedly and optimistically started filling out applications; to Target, to wal*mart, to juice it up, to the 'fancy' Murrieta car wash (where I got an interview), and the list goes on. But then..... nothing :/

So I decided to go with my grandma's suggestion and move up to NorCal with her to work for her and my grandpa up there. The plan was that I would work for them doing anything and everything (helping my grandpa with shoveling gravel and sand, hauling rocks, moving horse corrals, repairing/rebuilding the chimney, leveling land for the horseshoe pit fed all the animals, and for my grandma, I cleaned the kitchen, helped with quilting, binded quilts, vacuumed, washed dishes, washed windows, baked cookies, made strawberry pie, helped Spackle and paint the master bath, etc). I always felt so productive! and I also got to have plenty of fun, went to Yosemite, rode their horses up the mountain, took the dogs to the pond, went on hikes, went out for dinner and ice cream on occasion etc. It was an awesome set up. While I was up there I applied for jobs around town to try and supplement the $100 a week I was getting. No luck :/

UNTIL the week I was moving back to SoCal I got two job offers -_____- really? But anyway, if I move back up there this summer I'm a guaranteed hire if any spots are available. So I come back to SoCal a bit before fall quarter started back up and applied to some more places around town. 

Fast forward to last Thursday: STILL no job -___-, totally discouraged, no energy left to fill out even a single 'nother application, and getting really stressed out about money. I walk into the Dining Services Office to follow up on an application I sent in before winter break, the lady put a mark by my name saying I had come in and I left to go to a friend's apartment. On my way there I got a phone call from an unknown number. I answered the call. 

DUH DUH DUH DUHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (not dun dun dun dunnnnnnnn ps that would be ominous, this is supposed to be celebratory)

The girl on the other end asked if I was still interested in a job with dining services which I had to chuckle at since I had just been in the same girl's office 10 minutes ago. I told her yes of course, and then she asked if I could make 6:45am-10am shifts o_O!!!!!! I said yes.... a lot slower than I did to the first question. Haha it's a job, they're gonna give me what I need in life, money, and experience, so yes I suppose I can make that. 6:45am... minus an hour commute 5:45am... minus wake up and get ready time... 5am... I don't usually go to sleep till 2 or 3am...... O_O yikes. Well I'm just gonna have to figure out how to sleep like all you normal people out there. Haha so...  ya that will be difficult haha but I HAVE A JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ran around squealing and shouting the rest of the day and most of the next day lol (and that is NO exaggeration... I was super excited -- still am in fact -- and was shouting I got a JOBBBBBBB!!! all over the place) 

So that's the great news! I am now an employee of UCR dining services and I will be a cashier at The Barn and Ivan's and the coffee truck which are apparently a part of The Barn peoples. So today was first day of training! I worked at Ivan's today and learned how to make lots of fufu drinks and learn the ropes. It was really fun and my supervisor lady likes me!!!! ^.^ she's super sweet, I really like her. Excited for the rest of training this week!
