Haha, you may be curious as to what *circus* I'm referring too; my life is a circus. Today to start with, I woke up to tweakerville. Lol some people are ultra sensitive to medication, so much so that a normal dose can cause them to twitch uncontrollably, and spaz out... someone in my family is like this. This someone once got COMPLETELY delirious and slap happy on a reasonable dose of pain killers at the hospital. So this person made the beginning of my day fairly entertaining.
Then later my sister decided to do her P90X workout for the day and asked me to join her (she's been asking for several days, so I finally gave in), wow that program is intense. We focused on legs and back today with an ab-ripperX supplemental workout... nearly 3 hours later I was exhausted, sweating, and oddly excited. In high school I was on the tennis, water polo, and swim teams and therefore trained in a pool(and lifted weights) 4 hours a day every day year round, with few exceptions. I was in the best shape of my life; had a six pack, guns, and definition throughout. My endurance and breathing control were the best they've ever been and I felt AWESOME!!!
However, when I went to college.... I was no longer on a sports team as my school doesn't have any water sports, and tennis was really more of a hobby to me. So you've heard of the Freshman Fifteen I'm sure, right? Well if you haven't, it's the 15 lbs that every college freshman supposedly gains over that first year. If you're wondering if i gained that weight.... the answer is no.... kind of.
I gained TWENTY pounds!!!!!!!!!!! (I'm an overachiever). & don't get me wrong it's not like I was lazy or anything in college. I mean yes I did avoid the gym... (I have a thing about working out in front of guys), BUT I was keeping active of course. If you know me, you know I am incredibly hyper, and have undying energy. I lived on the 3rd floor, had a twenty minute walk to each class, went swing dancing nearly every Monday, and was a part of various dance related events over the year. Hip hop, Tahitian, Hula, Swing, Salsa, Fox Trot, I did at least a little bit of each of them in addition to my social activities, meetings, etc. I hiked to the top of the "C' (a big letter emblazoned on one of the huge hills behind the school) and was the first girl to reach it in our group of 50+ people. So needless to say, I was still VERY active, but even still I gained a substantial amount of weight and lost the majority of my muscle mass. In addition to the muscle, tone, and definition, I have lost my tan, and my sun bleached hair. I was NOT okay with my college transformation whatsoever and am now determined to mend the damage done. Working for my grandparents over the summer and eating nothing but homemade meals was a great improvement, I lost the 20 pounds again and regained a fraction of the muscle. I have since put on about 8 pounds again (long weekend full of car trips, restaurants, and grief will do that to you).
So anyways long story short, I could stand to lose about 10 pounds of fat, and aim to gain at least as much back in muscle. I am going to do this P90X deal with my sister and join a local gym to begin training in a pool again. Thankfully my sister has more self discipline than I do, so she will keep me in line as far as continuing with P90X and training in the pool will be easy enough considering my affinity for being natant (<--blogger doesn't think that's a word either... again it is wrong. Look it up if you doubt me). & paying for a gym membership will make going to the pool more of a priority. I really hope I keep up with this and get back in shape.
Oh my I've written FAR too much and completely veered off my topic
